TEENAGE DELINQUENTS ‘TRUANCY IN THE AGE OF ENLIGHTENMENT’

Stephen Baker is a Melbourne based contemporary artist who has developed a unique aesthetic founded in an elegant expression of the fundamental principles of visual aesthetics and communication. In his work, Baker creates visual interpretations of universally recognisable scenes from our everyday lives through a reductionist lens. Baker’s process of removing visual cues to pare back his scenes to their most basic forms is a carefully executed exercise to begin a dialogue about potentially overlooked parts of the human experience. Using the psychology of colour and form Baker’s works reveal a unique visual narrative and begin a philosophical dialogue about our internal and external worlds.
