Sarah Berners is a Melbourne based artist working in sculpture and photography. She graduated with a BFA (Painting) from RMIT University in 2006 before going on to complete her BFA (Honours) at the Victorian College of the Arts. In 2009 she was awarded the Henry James Williams Scholarship to undertake her Master of Fine Art (by Research) at the VCA. She has exhibited her work extensively throughout Australia's artist run and commercial galleries, most recently being involved in shows at the Queensland Centre for Photography, Area Contemporary and NotFair 2014.
Berners has been the recipient of various awards and grants including the National Gallery of Victoria’s Trustees Award (2007), Vulcan Steel Art Award (2010), Australia Council ArtStart grant (2010), Australia Council New Work Grant (2012) and Ian Potter Cultural Trust Grant (2014). Recent international residencies include the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris & the Australia Council Tokyo Studio (2014).
